Was Justin Bieber just caught doing good? The Believe singer attended the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala in Cannes, France, on Thursday, May 22 — and TMZ reports that he donated over half of a million dollars to the organization Americans For AIDS Research.

Apparently, a fellow guest at the party — held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc — donated $545,000 to the cause, and Justin Bieber matched the gift "quietly and without much fanfare," saying that he just wanted to help out.

Justin's timing is good, too — the AIDS issue is in the media spotlight even more nowadays thanks to the May 25 HBO movie The Normal Heart.

All told, the 21-year-old and his fellow attendees raised an amazing $35 million that night. (One lucky duck who donated $1 million will accompany Leonardo DiCaprio on Virgin Galactic space trip!)

Not only did Justin clean up his image, he cleaned up his look: wearing a midnight-hued double-breasted suit with rolled up sleeves.

On hand to witness the Biebs' act of generosity at the star-studded gala were Robin Thicke, Lana Del Rey, Adrien Brody, Jessica Chastain, Sharon Stone, John Travolta, Karlie Kloss, Kellan Lutz, and many more celebs.

Hey, if Justin is turning over a new leaf, we're in full support!
