By the end of Season 11 of Grey's Anatomy, Justin Chambers (Alex Karev) will have starred on the show for a quarter of his life. He'll be turning 44, and he will have been on the show for 11 years.
So it's natural for him to want to do other projects, but will he leave Grey's to do so?
In a new interview with Irish news outlet RTÉ Ten, Justin reveals how long he intends to stay on the show that made him famous.
“Not many people can say in today’s world that they have been part of television history for over ten seasons. I’m still excited to be there,” he says. “I’m still excited to work with the people I work with. Hopefully, I will give people a good hour of TV for the next season or two.”
So we can infer from that statement that Justin is planning on sticking around for Seasons 11 and 12, which mirrors the two-year contract extension he signed in May — along with Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber).
Also on deck for at least two more years are Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) and Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd), who re-upped for Season 11 and 12 in January.
Meanwhile, Jessica Capshaw (Arizona Robbins), Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt), Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery), Sarah Drew (April Kepner), Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson), and Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie Edwards) are presumably in the middle of their contracts, so we know we'll at least see them for one more season.
We know — it's hard to imagine our Grey's docs leaving us! But we know Justin will go far in his career whenever his shift at Grey Sloan is done.
Grey's Anatomy Season 11 airs this fall.
