Kailyn Lowry Applies to College, Reveals Major Career Change! — Exclusive
We're totally digging Kailyn Lowry's dental scrubs this season on Teen Mom 2, but don't get too used to her laid back office attire. This reality star is ready to leave her job behind for bigger and better things (no offense, Randy Houska!), and she's committed to going back to school for her undergraduate degree.
"I actually just applied to Delaware State so I'm hoping if I get in I'll start in the fall," Kailyn told Wetpaint Entertainment exclusively, revealing that she plans to study TV, Radio, and Film. "If I can go full-time, I'll go full-time."
It's a complete change of pace for Kailyn, who earned her dental assistant certification in 2012. And while she loved working at American Family Dental in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she's looking forward to a career with more growth opportunities.
As for her dream job? Sounds like Kailyn wants to follow in the footsteps of her Teen Mom counterpart Maci Bookout!
"If the opportunity arises I would love to be a host at some point," Kailyn dished. "I'm willing to work to get there and do behind-the-scenes production and that kind of stuff."
Raising a family (including a new baby!) while taking a full course load is no easy feat, but Kailyn is determined to make her dreams come true. Plus this time around she's got some extra help from her adoring husband, U.S. Airman Javi Marroquin.
"Javi and I had a really big talk about if I'm going to go back to school I need his 100 percent support and encouragement. I need him to be able to take the kids if I need to go to class," she revealed. "I went to community college for two years with Isaac and I didn't really have anyone to help me so I felt like I slacked off a lot more than I should have. I definitely want to give it my all this time."
Thankfully, Javi's usually home by 4:30 p.m., which means Kailyn is free to attend night classes while hubby looks after Isaac and Lincoln.
Sure, it's a lofty goal, but Kailyn's hasn't lost sight of her short-term victories either. In fact, the budding media personality just finished her first book, a memoir entitled Pride Over Pity, which is set to hit the shelves any day now.
"It's a huge deal for me," Kailyn gushed. "I just want to be on the New York Times best seller list!"
