Teen Mom 2's Kailyn Lowry is officially a New York Times Bestselling author! This MTV reality star recently published her highly anticipated memoir, Pride Over Pity, and it's literally leaping off the shelves.
The book is an unfiltered look at Kailyn's life before Teen Mom 2, and it's emotional to say the least. Not only does Kailyn open about about her abortion, sexual assault and brief drug use, she talks about how hard it was to be raised by an addict.
“I remember being dropped off at friends’ houses and sometimes not getting a phone call for what seemed like days,” Kailyn wrote in an excerpt from Pride Over Pity. “In those times, when she would disappear for days without warning, I’d wonder if I would ever see her again.”
Kailyn's mom, Suzi, has battled with alcoholism since Kailyn was a child, and Kailyn didn't hold back about Suzi Q's frequent inebriation in Pride Over Pity. So, how does Suzi feel about Kailyn getting real about their relationship? This gal exclusively told Wetpaint Entertainment that she "guessed Suzi was OK with the book," and chatted further to OK!Magazine.com about the issue.
"My mom did reach out to me, and she said that she is disappointed that our good times aren't in there," Kailyn told the magazine. "But I was in a super bitter and angry place when I wrote some of it, so I feel like the worst times stuck out in my mind more than the good times."
Kailyn did experience good times with Suzi, and says that she has fond memories of going out to eat with her mom. "I still hold onto that memory," Kailyn said, "but at the time I was writing it I was just so angry."
Presumably, Suzi understands how hard her alcoholism was for Kailyn, and has given her a few allowances for being angry. Hopefully, this mother-daughter duo are well on their way to having a better relationship.
