It’s been less than a month since Kailyn Lowry released her debut autobiography, Pride Over Pity, and it already hit both Amazon’s and Barnes and Noble’s Top 100 lists and became a New York Times Bestseller. #Blessed.

“I’m actually surprised by it because I know some people online have been super nasty, so I’m just so overwhelmed with happiness and excitement,” Kailyn exclusively tells Wetpaint Entertainment. “I have no words for it … I didn’t think it wasn’t going to be as big as it it, and I’m so happy.” Aww, for the first time this girl is speechless!

If you haven’t picked up Pride Over Pity yet, the content is extremely personal and emotional. Not only does Kailyn open up about her rape and a subsequent abortion at age 16, she reveals her bout with eating disorders and living with her substance abusing mother Suzi.

“I think a lot of people don’t know the relationship I have with my mom, or why she’s not really on the show and stuff,” she says. “It definitely goes more in depth about [it], and maybe people will have a better understanding on my relationship with her.”

Now, if you’re wondering if Kailyn’s mother actually read the novel, you’ll be shocked to know that she did! “She actually had to read it for legal issues … I had to get her approval for some of the things that were said,” Kailyn explains. “I guess she’s OK with it; she didn’t try to fight anything that was in there.”

As for writing the book, it took Kailyn three years! “There was period of time where we took a break. It’s been a long process [and] I never thought that it was actually going to happen,” she explains. “During that break I was like, ‘Oh, I’m just going to stop writing for while. This probably will never get published or anything.’”

But it did get published, and now Kailyn is basking in its success by packing up the diaper bags for a book tour that is taking her around the USA — with the latest addition in Las Vegas at Barnes and Nobles Northwest on Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m.! “I’m hoping that this book tour continues for as long as people want me to come to do signings. I love to meet everybody,” Kailyn says.

As for a Pride Over Pity sequel? “The answer is yes!” Kailyn says with a laugh. “I do plan on writing another book following the journey that I plan on [taking] after the show is done.” Stop. It. We can’t wait!

“It’s definitely exciting,” Kailyn adds, “but at the end of it, I [can] go home to my kids … I’m starting to feel like more of a professional than a teen mom.” And girlfriend has definitely proved that she is!
