Kandi Burruss Accused of Stiffing Restaurant Worker Out of $16K — Report
The Bravolebrity has plenty going down off-screen with her restaurant, Old Lady Gang's Southern Cuisine, as now a former contractor is accusing her of not paying him up to $16K in earned wages.
This is the second time in just as many months as Kandi's restaurant has been getting bad press, as in September, the Atlanta eatery was given a "C" grade after inspection by The Georgia Department of Public Health.
The mom of three refuted that her restaurant wasn't up to code, though, telling Love B. Scott at the time:
“Our score is an A. Yes, it was a C for like three days, but for minor things like, someone in the kitchen didn’t have their hair net on — or we ran out of paper towels by the sink. We immediately corrected those things and our score returned to an A."
Now, Charles Eric Busbee, a worker who was hired to do construction on the establishment, claims Kandi, her husband, Todd Tucker, and their architect paid him with bad checks and still owe him $16K, according to a complaint obtained by Radar Online.
He insists the three checks they sent him never cleared and he had to pay his crew "out of pocket."
This isn't the first time the XScape singer has been accused of stiffing her employees of their hard earned cash, however.
In April, the reality star's former employee Johnnie Winston sued her for failing to pay him the minumum wage required by the state of Georgia.
As we saw on Season 9 of the long-running series, Johnnie basically worked as the star's assistant, spending time with her in the studio, running her errands, attending meetings, and helping her plan her huge, televised wedding.
The singer/songwriter filed a countersuit for defamation, claiming his allegations injured her personal brand.
The judge appproved the countersuit and all is well in the world.
Meanwhile, it seems Kandi has remained mostly out of the drama that's been going down thus far while filming RHOA Season 10.
The cast's annual trip to Barcelona, Spain was a mess, with Kenya Moore reportedly getting uninvited and Porsha Williams reportedly getting sent home a day early!
And don't even get us started on the Kim Zolciak/NeNe Leakes drama; Kim is now taking legal action against NeNe for the racist comments the "rich bitch" star made about her and her oldest daughter, Brielle Biermann.
We'll have to wait and see if Kandi's Old Lady Gang drama makes it to the show, but we've got enough insanity to keep us covered if not!
Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 10 premieres Sunday, November 5 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
