In an interview with Ebony earlier this month, Mama Joyce was throwing some serious shade, and for once it wasn’t at her daughter Kandi Burruss’ fiance, Todd Tucker. Or at least it wasn’t directed at him exclusively.
In a chat with the mag, Mama Joyce acknowledged all the hate she’s been getting for being so hard on Todd, and blamed Bravo and The Real Housewives of Atlanta producers for portraying her in an unflattering light. To add insult to injury, Joyce also revealed that she has never been paid for her time on the show despite being a major part of Kandi’s storyline this season and in seasons past.
In short, it seemed like Mama Joyce was all but done with reality television. When Joyce stopped by HLN earlier this week the interviewer asked her if she would return to RHoA for another season. “We’ll just wait and see, you can never say never,” she said.
Joyce may have an open mind, but the Todd-hating backlash from this season has had an affect on how she feels about the Bravo megahit. She dished, “Being portrayed as a villain and not being paid, that kind of hurt.” RHoA hasn’t been renewed for a seventh season yet, but seeing as how Season 6 is breaking records left and right, we doubt Bravo would bail on the show now.
But Joyce, who was initially brought on the show to beef up Kandi’s storyline, says she would do anything for her family. “I love my daughter more than I love myself and my whole thing is protecting her and looking after Riley.”
Do you think Mama Joyce has overstayed her welcome on RHoA, or would you like to see her on the show for another season?
