If the Real Housewives of Atlanta cast has taught us anything, it’s that the one thing more precious than these southern belles’ relationships is their money!

It seems like everyone, from Mama Joyce to her fans, has formed their own opinion on Kandi Burruss’ decision to get an ir0n-clad prenup before marrying Todd Tucker, and now she’s responding personally to those who think her decision stems from distrust of her significant other.

After one of her Twitter followers called her “greedy” for asking for a prenup, Kandi explained that, in the event of a divorce, she and Todd would get exactly the same amount of one another’s money: none.

Todd, who has had a successful career as a producer, working on shows including RHoA and the upcoming Hollywood Divas, may have seemed reticent to sign the contract, but Kandi clarified a few key points: while Todd may have had concerns about Kandi leaving him sick and penniless, there definitely wasn’t a clause in the prenup suggesting she take that course of action.

Our prenup never said if he got sick I would leave him,” tweeted Kandi. “Todd was just saying that its possible I could leave him with nothing if he got sick.”

While countless fans expressed their feelings about Kandi being unfair in her decision to get a prenup in the first place, she explained that she and Todd had plenty of discussions about the prenup before it was time to sign, and that none of it should have come as a surprise to him.

“Todd didn't even get his attorney until 2 days before the wedding. He & I had already talked about what we thought was fair & I thought we were on the same page,” wrote Kandi.

Despite all of her efforts to defend herself, Kandi admitted that she knows she’s fighting a losing battle.

“Reading tweets & people say I'm unfair with the prenup but if I didn't do the prenup & Lord forbid we divorced & I had to give half of everything, the same people would tweet me calling me stupid,” she wrote.

For what it’s worth, we think Kandi made a great decision — there’s nothing unromantic about defending what’s yours!
