Mama Joyce and her daughter Kandi Burruss are very close, but Kandi’s relationship with and now marriage to Todd Tucker has put some strain on the close pair. Mama Joyce doesn’t like Todd (that’s an understatement, but you know what we mean), and she’s made that painfully obvious. Kandi’s gotten a ton of flack for not standing up to her overbearing mama, but the Real Housewives of Atlanta star insists she does put her mama in her place.

“My mother and I, we always have conversations. People think that I don’t say anything to her, and that’s just not true. I say things all the time but she doesn’t always receive it. Whether or not she receives it, we do what we want to do,” Kandi told a curious caller who phoned into Watch What Happens Live this past Sunday, when she was Andy’s sole guest.

“Now the whole argument between my mom and his [Todd’s] mom last week was because I did not allow her to come to the house one time when I felt like she was gonna be trying to come over and make Todd uncomfortable, so she’s been holding a grudge about it ever since, like, ‘I can’t come to your house.’ It’s not that she can’t come to my house. I just didn’t want her to come if she was gonna have an attitude, or be saying negative things, or not speaking,” Kandi explained.

This prompted Andy to ask if Kandi’s ever considered shutting out her mother completely, but as Kandi reasoned, these arguments between the two are par for the course. In fact, as of Sunday night, June 22, Kandi and Mama Joyce weren’t speaking. “Honestly we go through those moments all the time, and we stop talking for days at a time. Right now we haven’t been talking for a couple of days,” she said. However, you may be surprised to learn that the fact that the pair isn’t speaking now has nothing to do with Todd. When Andy asked for a reason, Kandi said, "[It’s] something about my dad.”

And, as you may have guessed, Kandi is usually the one to put an end to these bouts of no talking. “Apparently she must be waiting on me to call her because she’s never wrong — that’s what I’m saying,” Kandi noted. “Regardless of what is said she never sees her part in the situation; she always makes it seem like I’m just wrong, so we’ll go days until I call.”

Oh Mama Joyce, why are you such a handful?! Watch more of Kandi’s chat with Andy below and tell us what you think!
