Kandi Burruss’s Famous Friends Gush Over Her on Being Kandi Special (VIDEO)

Kandi Burruss owned last weekend. She married Todd Tucker on Friday, April 4 and her Centric special Being: Kandi Burruss aired Saturday, April 5.

Kandi's docu-series marked the Being season finale, and you can check out a six-minute "first look" at the special in the video below. Hopefully Centric will post the full episode soon.

Fans tweeted praise to the Real Housewives of Atlanta star after the show, saying they learned so much about her — including how much she loved her late brother Patrick. Mama Joyce, who is featured in the special, said, "Patrick was like a big brother and a father. He adored her. He just did everything for her — took her to the movies, took her friends to the movies." While Mama Joyce worked, he took care of his sister. Kandi called Patrick her “idol,” saying he was the first one to push her to pursue singing.

Beyond singing, her friend Kwame Waters said, "She was really known for her acting skills,” especially in a well-known school monologue about a suicidal teen. He said she could cry on a dime — which certainly helps on RHoA, if nowhere else.

The special also delved into the evolution of the singing group Xscape. Tamera Coggins-Wynn talked about going to the casting call with Kandi, saying everyone loved Kandi's unique sound. The group was eventually rounded out by LaTocha and Tamika Scott, and Tameka “Tiny” Harris. Tiny said Kandi “was always just dedicated, motivated," but she also shared some behind-the-scenes drama. "During the second album,” Tiny said, “there were, like, just friction between Kandi and Tocha." Kandi added, "and the tension just kept building up and we'd start going for blows."

Drama from Kandi? Never! The first look also included quotes from Kandi's fellow Housewives. Phaedra Parks called Kandi a "self-made woman," and Porsha Williams said RHoA didn't make Kandi, she "had her stardom and she made her impression on the world" long before joining the Bravo show.
