Kanye West Collaborating With Author Bret Easton Ellis on New Film

Kanye West is already a millionaire mogul, with endeavors in the music and fashion industries (not to mention the occasional, begrudging appearance on Keeping Up with the Kardashians), and now, it looks like he’s ready to take the movie business by storm.

The rapper is teaming up with prolific author Bret Easton Ellis for a new film project based on the 'Ye's best-selling album, Yeezus.

While the details of the collaboration are still pretty hush-hush, Bret gave a few hints to Vice about the upcoming film, which he says currently exists only “in Kanye Land,” where time as we know it does not exist — meaning the pair have no concrete release date as of yet.

“He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to ‘Yeezus,’” says the author.

That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.”

While both Kanye and Bret have gotten a bad rap in the media, the two seem to have found some common ground and even forged an unlikely friendship.

“I really like him as a person,” says Bret. “I know he comes off in this performance-art way in the press, but if you’re just alone with him in a room talking for three hours, it’s kind of mind-blowing.”

While Bret’s film with the rapper may be uncharted territory, this isn’t the first time there’s been an Ellis/West crossover. To accompany the launch of Yeezus, Kanye put together a short film playing on Bret’s novel, American Psycho, starring the most Batemanesque guy in reality television — Scott Disick.

Would you watch Kanye and Bret’s movie?
