UPDATE (12:04 p.m. PT):
There's no doubt about it now! Kim Kardashian posted an Instagram photo earlier this morning (October 22) that not only shows off her stunning engagement ring but also reveals the hugely romantic way in which Kanye West proposed.
In the photo, we see the reality star's manicured hand with the enormous rock on her ring finger — with Kanye's proposal on the AT&T Park jumbotron in the background. "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!" the message reads. In the snapshot's caption, Kim writes, "YES!!!"
E! Online reports that a 50-piece orchestra played Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful" and Keri Hilson's "Knock You Down," the latter of which features vocals by Ne-Yo and — surprise, surprise — Kanye West.
According to an Us Weekly article, 'Ye "personally invited everybody" to attend, with reports that about 50 people looked on as he popped the big question. The group included 20 of Kim's relatives and best bud as well as Kanye's "hometown friends from Chicago, plus the owners of the San Francisco Giants and several 'Silicon Valley billionaires.'" Yeezus does like himself an audience.
ORIGINAL STORY (3:08 a.m. PT):
Well, this has got to be the happiest of happy birthdays for Kim Kardashian. On the day she turned the big 3-3, she got a very extravagant proposal from boyfriend and baby daddy Kanye West, according to E! Online. Looks like Kim’s “Jesus year” is going to be her Yeezusyear!
Kanye locked down his love at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, which he rented out for the occasion. While there are no details yet on exactly how the proposal went down or the ring Kim got, we’re sure both were stylish and extravagant. After all, this is Kimye we’re talking about here!
This isn’t the first time Kanye has taken the go-big-or-go-home approach in his headline-grabbing relationship with Kim. Back in December 2012, ‘Ye announced to an entire arena of fans that he and Kim were expecting a baby. We guess his love is so big only a stadium can hold it?
Kanye has been engaged once before to designer Alexis Phifer, but his marriage to Kim Kardashian would be his first. Kim has been twice married (to Damon Thomas in 2000 and Kris Humphries in 2011), so here’s hoping Kanye’s the charm!
Kanye and Kim finally getting engaged ends months of speculation about the couple! Most recently, sources blabbed to RadarOnline that Kanye would never propose to Kim, because he finds the whole idea of putting a ring on it outdated. “Kanye prefers the idea of them as ‘partners,’” the source had said. “He sees marriage as outdated and he’s all about embracing the modern and the new. He doesn’t feel like he has to marry Kim just because they have a [daughter] together.” But it looks like Kanye went ahead and proved them wrong.
That rumor wasn't the worst of it, though. A couple of reports said that Kim was furious over Kanye's role as Nori's PR director (a completely normal problem that every set of co-parents can obviously relate to, we’re sure). Another report alleged that a super-paranoid, stay-at-home Kim hired detectives to trail Kanye to make sure he stays faithful. Other fun rumors include the couple's debate about having baby number two and Kim's misery over staying home to take care of Nori.
For every story claiming that Kimye was on the rocks, though, three more stories would crop up that proved that these two, even post-baby, are still crazy for each other. Kanye freaked out — in a good way — when Kim tweeted a picture of her prominent derriere. 'Ye doesn't keep his love for Kim's bod hidden; he wore a t-shirt with a nude photo of her on it, for chrissakes. Rumor has it that he'd also love to direct a Playboy photoshoot featuring his special lady.
Of course, if it were just about Kim's sweet, sweet booty, this relationship would already be over. But those two are like peas in a highly-fashionable pod! Kim and the baby are reportedly going on tour with him, and the whole family comes along to interviews and television appearances. Kim's mom loves him. And despite having a relatively new baby together, the pair still make time for bonding with Parisian getaways. Nothing says love like looking at $11 million mansions together, after all!
Love is certainly in the air for Kim, but it is a little surprising that she has the most ideal relationship situation right now out of the whole Kardashian clan. Most recently, Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner announced her separation from her husband of 22 years, Bruce Jenner. The couple are attempting to have a pretty low-drama divorce, at least publicly; in a joint statement, Bruce and Kris said, "We are living separately and we are much happier this way." Kris later added that their breakup isn't too nasty; they're just at a different pace. She said that they have a "wonderful dynamic." (Although she did say that her biggest regret was divorcing Kim's late father, Robert Kardashian. Ouch!)
Meanwhile, sources claim they have a different story. Kris's sister says Kris was cheating on Bruce, a story which Kris refutes, adding that she and her sister aren't even in touch. We're not sure about the whole story — or even if they're getting legally divorced — but we will get to see it all play out on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Kim’s sister Khloe Kardashian and her husband Lamar Odom's marital troubles have also been highly publicized, although concrete information on the couple's status has slowed down after Khloe was spotted once again wearing her wedding ring. The pair were the subject of a lot of gossip — and speculation over Khloe's cryptic, downer social media posts — after rumors of Lamar's drug use and infidelity reached critical mass. Reports said that he went missing for three days before checking into rehab, although some reports presented conflicting information. Since no really juicy info has come to light recently, we have our fingers crossed for those two. For the record, though, Lamar says he doesn't have a drug problem and pleaded not guilty to his DUI charges; Lamar's dad backs him up.
With all the romantic drama plaguing the Kardashians, we have our fingers crossed for these two. Congrats, Kimye!
