Kanye West to Make History with Seventh VMA Performance

New dad Kanye West seems to have had no trouble getting back into the swing of things post-baby. In the almost two months since the arrival of daughter North West on June 15, Kanye’s released a hit album, assaulted a couple paps, and got a little sass from the Leader of the Free World.

Now we’re hearing 'Ye plans to cap off an eventful summer with a historic MTV Video Music Awards performance.

Needless to say, Kanye’s relationship with the VMAs is a rocky one. And yet despite the three-time winner’s disparaging talk of all things Taylor Swift VMA-related, this will be the rapper’s seventh time performing during the annual awards show. That ties Yeezus with Madonna as the entertainer with the most VMA performances ever.

Look for Kanye to take the VMA stage (with permission) on Sunday, August 25, at 9 p.m. EST/PST. Word is he’ll be performing the single “Black Skinhead” (obvi) live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and will also join Lady Gaga as she performs a new single from ARTPOP.

We only hope Nori makes her triumphant debut at the end of Dad’s number. Now there’s a VMA performance that would go down in history.
