Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s Wedding: Everything We Know So Far
Wedding season is upon us, but all those other summer shindigs ain’t got nothin’ on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s much-hyped Memorial Day weekend celebration. As we wait for these two to say “I do,” let’s round up everything we know so far — date, location, dress, you name it.
When is it? According to the couple’s simple, elegant wedding invitation, he couple will tie the knot this Saturday, May 24 in a formal, black-tie wedding. Kim, Kanye, and their guests will have a pre-wedding feast in Paris on the eve of the big day.
Where is it? (UPDATE) — Kim and Kanye had a pre-wedding feast at the Palace at Versailles, which included a live performance by Lana del Rey. The next morning, the wedding party and all their guests boarded several private and commercial flights to florence.
(ORIGINAL STORY) — That’s currently up for debate! E! Newsconfirms that the couple managed to talk their way into their first choice location: Versailles. However, numerous outlets have asserted that there’s no way the French government would allow the couple to hold their ceremony at the famed Palace at Versailles. So maybe they just mean somewhere within the Parisian suburb, and not the actual chateau where Marie Antoinette once took up residence?
The other possible location for the wedding is Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy. Us Weekly claims the couple plans to fly their guests to the romantic Tuscan city after they feast in Paris the night before. Kanye has rhapsodized about the city’s beauty before, and even believes it’s the place where he and Kim conceived their daughter, North.
What about the dress? There’s been tons of speculation about the designer of Kim’s gown. She and pal Serena Williams were spotted leaving Balmain in Paris on April 30, leading many to believe Kim was there for a fitting. That seemed even more possible when the reality star showed up the next week at the Met Gala wearing, not Balmain, but rather a blue Lanvin gown.
Whosoever gets the honor of dressing Kim on the big day, the gown is all but certain to be a) custom-designed and b) super expensive. In fact, some sources estimate Kim’s dress alone will be worth upwards of $2 million. Anything else is a tightly guarded secret. In fact, not even Kris Jenner knows what her daughter’ dress looks like!
Who’s on the guest list? Kim may have had a guest list longer than the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her marriage to Kris Humphries, but her third wedding is said to be a much smaller affair. After one report suggested the guest list included as many as 1,600, Kim herself knocked that claim down, insisting, “Its [sic] VERY small and intimate.”
How can I see it? Sorry to disappoint you, Kimyephiles, but this wedding won’t be filmed for Keeping Up With the Kardashians, according to Kim herself. “As much as we would love to share these memories on camera, we've decided to keep this close to our heart and share thru photos,” Kim tweeted on May 7. However, her show will chronicle “everything leading up til and after” the big day.
