Kanye West may not be quite as influential as he thinks — at least not in the great state of Missouri. While The Yeezus Tour’s stop at the Kansas City Sprint Center could have accommodated up to 19,000 fans, reports indicate only 4,500 showed up for the spectacle on December 3.
In addition to the low attendance, reviews of his show in the midwestern metropolis were less than favorable. A Kansas City Star reporter certainly wasn’t raving about Kanye’s rants, proclaiming, “Tuesday’s poor attendance indicates how his scandalous love life, frequent impolite pronouncements and his gradual shift away from conventional hip-hop have alienated many of his fans.” Yikes, Yeezus. Sounds like you’re not a hit in the plains states!
This is just the latest snag in a tour that’s been stalled with numerous technical difficulties. In October, ‘Ye’s custom-made 60-foot LED monitor for the stage set was the unfortunate casualty of a truck accident while en route to Vancouver, BC. The “Bound 2” rapper had to cancel that night’s show and reschedule a few others while waiting for the set piece to be replaced.
Add that to his many unfortunate foot-in-mouth incidents and we guess you could say, aside from his family life, this is not exactly the Year of Yeezus.
