We reported earlier that Khloe Kardashian’s husband — NBA player Lamar Odom — was involved in a serious car accident in Jamaica, Queens this weekend while he was in town for his cousin’s funeral. The accident injured a motorcyclist and a 15-year-old boy, but Lamar was unharmed.

According to People Magazine, the chauffeured car that Odom was traveling in struck a motorcycle, which then hit the pedestrian teen. The boy — whose name has not been released — was rushed to Elmhurst hospital and treated for extensive head injuries.

TMZ reports that emergency surgery was performed in an effort to save the boy’s life, but ultimately his injuries proved to be too severe and the he passed away on Friday. A funeral for the 15-year-old was held on Monday.

Lamar and Khloe are said to be “devastated” by this tragedy, and both stars took to Twitter to express their thoughts.

Lamar, who has been tight-lipped since the accident, simply tweeted, “Thank you for your support and prayers! My thoughts and prayers are with the young boys family.”

Khole composed a series of tweets offering her condolences and encouraging others to find strength in love. She tweeted, “My heart/soul goes out 2every1 in pain from any suffering. Pray 4 all of the angels surrounding us constantly. May our spirits stay strong...Above all, love each other deeply, b/c love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality 2 1another without grumbling 1 Peter 4:8-9...Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own...Our love will give us strength! Love conquers ALL!"

Yet, following some criticism from other Twitter users, Kardashian tweeted: "Stop judging other people's lives that u know NOTHING about! My husband & I r in NY 4 a funeral 4 his fam. Senseless violence is disgusting!!"
