Reality TV impresario Ryan Seacrest has been hit with a lawsuit, over some less than scrupulous activity on one of the Kardashians reality shows! According to Radar Online, a producer is suing Seacrest for using his music on Khloe & Lamar without getting permission.

Music producer Jose Moreno is alleging that his copyrighted material was used on the reality show starring Khloe Kardashian and husband Lamar Odom (as well as the reality show Bad Girls Club), and he’s reportedly seeking at least $75,000 in damages. And that ain’t chump change.

So what’s the infraction here? According to court documents obtained by Radar, “Ryan Seacrest Productions, NBC Universal…intentionally edited substantial portions of Jose Moreno’s copyrighted musical works into television programs which were publicly performed on prominent cable channels and viewed by millions of people. Defendants did so with no license from Jose Moreno, the sole copyright owner.”

If this is true, we have to say, it’s pretty bad form! Sure, we imagine Ryan didn't personally select this music and put in on ythe show, but it's the principle of the thing.  But issues of copyright and fair use are incredibly tricky, so we’ll leave this one to the professionals, who will hear the case in court starting December 2.
