You might want to skip the steak dinner before you tune in for the next episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. (And you might want to stop reading this if you're enjoying your lunch and have a weak constitution.) From the looks of this sneak peek, the rumors that Kim Kardashian would opt to eat her placenta after giving birth to North West bear weight.
Over dinner of all occasions, a pregnant Kim sparks up a discussion about the controversial post-partum practice by asking the chef who prepared the meal if he's ever cooked a placenta. While he hadn't personally, he did mention that his wife had, and that it's beneficial not just for women who've given birth recently, but also for older women going through another big life-changing event: Menopause. Paging Kris Jenner!
Kris is far less stoked on the idea of chowing down on Kim's placenta than Kim (or Kourtney, who asserts that she wants to have a third baby just so she can). While we're aware that virtually every other mammal in the animal kingdom does it, we're kind of feeling Kris on this one.
This isn't the first time Kim has brought up the subject. In the premiere of this season, she asked her doctor about it.
“Why would a normal human want to eat their own placenta?” Kim asked, as mom Kris Jenner made a pretty grossed out face behind her back. But the doctor wasn’t even necessary, because Kim already had an answer in mind!
“Don't you think it makes you younger?” she went on.
“Some people believe in that,” her doctor explained. “There are whole cookbooks on placentas, you know.”
Kris’ opinion? “Yuck,” she said. “I don’t think we’re going to be eating the fountain of youth, if you know what I mean.”
There are no studies proving that eating one's placenta is particularly beneficial, but Kim seems pretty adamant about it. What do you think — did Kim cook up her afterbirth — and do you think she was able to convince Kris to share it with her?
