If you’ve been within ten yards of an Internet connection today, you’ve heard that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have named their newborn baby girl North West. Her birth certificate has been tracked down, so even though the couple hasn’t released an official statement about the name, things seem set in stone.

So, there you have it: North West, no middle name. End of story.

Or is it?

It seems like Kim and Kanye have been trying really hard to keep info about their daughter under wraps, so it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility that they plan on changing her birth certificate later.

Little North is only six days old, after all. Maybe they filed her paperwork with every intention of changing her name. We’re not saying they will, but here’s what makes us think it’s a possibility.

First of all, we never would have guessed that these two would have picked something that had been a rumor for so long! The rumor that “North West” was on the table has been around for months, and was first printed in UK rag The Sun. Kim even admitted that she had no idea where that story came from, but she did think the name was cute!

Second, it does seem odd that they didn’t give her a middle name. Both Kim and Kanye have middle names (hers is Noel and his is Omari, FYI), so it’s not like they’re sticking with a tradition here. Also, they’ve both lost parents, and their baby’s middle name seemed like a good way to honor one of them.

Third, it’s pretty easy to legally change a baby’s name, especially if you’ve got lawyers at your beck and call like Kim and Kanye do.

Of course, maybe North “Nori” West is here to stay! We’ll stay tuned, so you don’t have to.
