Kanye West may be a master of mean-mugging and paparazzi scuffling, but underneath it all, he’s just a regular guy who’s having a lot of feelings, y’all.
The rapper, who will appear on the finale of Kris Jenner's talk show, scheduled to air tomorrow, opened up about how, prior to the birth of his daughter, North, he often felt like he had nothing to keep him going, particularly after the 2007 death of his mother, Donda.
“There were times [after her death], I would put my life at risk,” he revealed, in a surprisingly candid admission. “I didn't have something to live for. Now I have two very special people to live for, a whole family to live for, a whole world to live for."
Kanye went on to describe how his life has changed since he began his relationship with Kim Kardashian, whose media-centric lifestyle is at odds with his own.
“I could have people say, 'This is going to damage your credibility as an artist or designer.' And I say, you know, I don't care, I love this woman," said Kanye.
Despite the constant media scrutiny in his life, which has only increased since he began his relationship with Kim, Kanye said he pays it little mind anymore.
"I love this person. She's worth it to me... [Kim is] my joy. She brought my new joy into the world. There’s no paparazzi and there’s no blog comment that’s going to take that joy from me.”
The paparazzi might not be able to steal his sunshine, but at least one is after his money. Kanye is currently being sued by Danny Ramos and his lawyer, Gloria Allred. The suit alleges that Kanye was responsible for the “terrible pain” the cameraman endured after their July altercation at LAX. Ramos says he “spent two weeks on crutches” after the rapper punched him in the hip. The incident came only a week after Kanye told some other LAX paparazzi, “Don't talk ... don't talk to me … I don't want to hear paparazzi talk to me or anybody I know ... and tell everybody never talk to anyone that anyone knows ... don't talk to themselves .. DON'T TALK EVER AGAIN." No one listens, do they, Kanye?
Still, maybe this means the musician is turning a corner. What do you think of this new side of Kanye?
