Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel have officially buried the hatchet.
The two men made peace and discussed their Twitter feud in a surprisingly sincere manner during last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The duo’s fight began in September after Jimmy spoofed Kanye’s much-talked about BBC Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe, hiring two child actors to play the roles of the rapper and Zane. Kanye, however, didn’t get the joke and fired off a series of nine nasty tweets to Jimmy in less than 20 minutes.
On Wednesday, Kanye appeared on Jimmy’s show to clear the air and explain his reasoning behind the Twitter tantrum.
For his part, Jimmy admitted that he took Kanye’s Zane interview out of context, joking, “The main reason that I did that is that I like to see kids curse.”
Kanye then explained that Jimmy received the brunt of his frustrations towards tabloids after dealing with years of persistent paparazzi and made-up headlines.
“This is the one person I know, so I can go and let out everything that I feel about every single bogus Weekly cover,” Kanye said. “Every single bogus skit... Every person who feels it's OK to treat celebrities like zoo animals… At a certain point these egos can flair up and we kind of just took it back to high school for a little bit.”
Jimmy agreed that as a celebrity, he also sometimes feels like a caged zoo animal, but the talk show host wondered if the rapper ever brought the doubts upon himself.
“A lot of people think you are a jerk. I often in my own personal conversations say, ‘No. I know this guy. He is not a jerk,’” Jimmy, who then showed off a photo of his own father smiling with Kanye at a wedding, said.
After a long-winded rant including subjects such as Paula Deen’s racism, Kim Kardashian’s tragic exclusion from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the lack of black guys “at the end of a runway in Paris,” Jimmy was finally forced to cut Yeezus off for time.
