While it may have seemed like everyone in the world close to Kim Kardashian was at San Francisco’s AT&T Park on October 21 when Kanye West got down on one knee and proposed, that wasn’t necessarily the case. Two members of the family were noticeably absent: Kim’s stepdad Bruce Jenner and her brother-in-law Lamar Odom.

While Bruce being a no-show is a big shock, it’s not surprising Lamar was left out of the festivities. As the whole world knows, he’s been battling a reported drug addiction while struggling to save his marriage to Kim’s sister, Khloe Kardashian.

So far, there’s been no word from Bruce as to why he missed the major moment, but Lamar has already gone public with an explanation, insisting to TMZ he was, indeed, invited, but simply had “something to do.”

“Who told you I wasn’t invited?” Lamar asked TMZ. “Of course I was invited. Maybe I had to do something personal.”

Is that really the case? Not quite, a Kardashian insider exclusively tells Wetpaint Entertainment. “He wasn’t invited,” the insider says. “He’s just covering up.”

“Right now, everyone still thinks Lamar is unstable,” the insider continues. “Having him at the proposal, it wouldn’t have been a good idea.”

For now, the insider says, Khloe and Lamar are working through their issues privately: “If they do stay together, it will be a while before Lamar’s included in family functions again.”

“It’s sad what’s going on with him,” notes the source. “Everyone just wants him to get help and get better.”
