Other than an official statement acknowledging her separation from husband of 22-years, Kris Jenner has remained remarkably quiet about her recent split from Bruce Jenner. However, in an interview with good friend Kathie Lee Gifford on her podcast, Kathie Lee and Company, Kris shed some light on the new normal for the Kardashian-Jenner family.

“We are better people and happier just spending time apart than we are spending time together,” Kris confided in Kathie (and her many listeners). Honestly, that sounds like a true enough statement for just about any divorced or separated couple — whether the split is friendly or not.

Speculation that things might not be so friendly reached a fever pitch when Bruce was a no-show at Kanye West’s lavish surprise proposal to Kim Kardashian in San Francisco. However, the whole family was back together to celebrate Bruce’s birthday on October 28. Both Jenner parents also reunited for Kendall’s Magic Mountain birthday bash, smiling big for the camera with their daughter. So maybe the Jenners’ unconventional living arrangement is just what the love doctor ordered?

Whether or not Kris and Bruce’s separation is ever made legal or permanent, it sounds (and looks) like the current arrangement is working out well for everybody involved. “I would rather have him in my life as a friend than not in my life at all,” Kris told Kathie.
