Keeping Up with the Kardashians may be a so-called reality show, but there’s little about the program that isn’t a heavily orchestrated affair.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner is not just a momager to her famous daughters — she’s the puppetmaster behind everything the Kardashians, Jenners, and Odoms do — but the one thing she can't control is what footage makes it to air on her own show.
The documents in question were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by Kris and her lawyers as a means of preventing Robert Kardashian’s ex-wife, Ellen, from suing Kris and her kids for defamation for statements made on KUWTK. Ellen is hopping mad that Kris and kompany claimed on-air that Ellen called Kris an unfit mother when, Ellen alleges, it was Kris and Ellen's late ex, Robert Kardashian, who made those incendiary claims.
In the court documents, Kris explains that any mention of Ellen on Keeping Up with the Kardashians was an oversight brought about by the fact that she doesn't have final creative control over what footage makes it to air.
“I hold the position of President of Jenner Communications, Inc.,” says Kris.
“Jenner Communications, Inc. (JCI) is and acts as the management company for the Kardashian/Jenner/Odom/Disick families … JCI, myself and my family members, that are the subject of the show, are not responsible for the editing or production of the show.”
Kris adds that the family has an opportunity to provide input about episodes, but does not maintain any executive power. “After episodes are filmed and edited, we are provided the opportunity to provide comments and suggestions to BMP as to footage in a particular episode that has been filmed from or about our lives and BMP does take those into account.”
While Kris says that Bunim-Murray Productions, the company behind KUWTK, took out information they knew to be false before the show hit the air, it seems like she's the only one in the family looking to bury the hatchet.
In the same documents, Kim lays out some harsh criticism for her ex-stepmom, going so far as to claim that Robert was unaware of what was happening when he tied the knot with Ellen just weeks before his death. Ouch.
Do you think the Kardashians are intentionally to ruin Ellen's name — or vice versa?
