That was fast! Lamar Odom had signed with a Spanish basketball team less than a month ago in hopes of rebooting his basketball career. Sadly for Khloe Kardashian's soon-to-be-ex husband, the experiment is over, with Lamar quitting the team after only playing in two games.
Us Weekly reports that Lamar has officially quit his Spanish basketball team Baskonia (also known as Laboral Kutxa) after injuring his back in a game with the team. Lamar had only played in two games so far, logging just a combined 23 minutes of playing time.
"The tests carried out in New York by Lamar Odom's trusted medical team, with the knowledge of the club, have shown that the player is suffering from lumbar radiculitis, which could keep him out of action for up to two months," says a team spokesperson. "The player therefore terminates his current contractual relationship with the club."
Lamar — who will now return to the U.S. to seek treatment for his back — thanked the team for giving him a chance. "This is something that is beyond my control," Lamar explains. He adds that "everything happens for a reason."
Lamar did not sign with an NBA team this season and was hoping to prove his mettle on an overseas team before hopefully returning to the NBA next season. Now, it remains to be seen whether Lamar can recover fully from the injury and get another shot at the NBA. We wish him all the best.
Do you think Lamar will ever play in the NBA again?
