Scott has struggled with alcohol in the past, and in late June he had to be hospitalized and treated for alcohol poisoning. A source told People that Scott, who is expecting a third child with Kourtney, hasn’t had a drink since the incident. "He's taking the steps he needs to make things right."
One of the steps was actually accepting that it was time to change. "Scott has known that he needed help for a while, but he just wasn't ready to take that leap," the source told People. "He finally had to humble himself and say, 'Hey, I need help.' It was a big step for him, and it took a lot of faith on his part."
Scott has reportedly been getting counseling from Pastor Rich Wilkerson, Jr., who performed Kim and Kanye’s wedding. The source said the death of Scott’s parents — his mother last October and his father just two months later — had a profound effect on him; although that didn’t start his problems with alcohol, it just amplified the existing issues. "We all turn to self-medication when we're in pain,” the source said, “and that's what he has done."
Scott’s friends and family have rallied around him for support, the source added. We certainly hope he stays on a path to good health, and it’s a step in the right direction if he’s seeking counseling. Kourtney and the kids need Scott to be strong and stable for them, so let’s hope this is the last time we hear about any family trips to the hospital that don’t involve giving birth.
