Just two months after Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy announced their departures from The View, ABC has named its two newest co-hosts who will be taking their spot alongside Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg. So who will be filling Jenny and Sherri’s chairs at the table? Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace.
Rosie is an actress who you may recognize from White Men Can’t Jump, and Nicolle is a political commentator. They have some big shoes to fill, but we’re sure they’ll fit in with the rest of the panel just fine — and so is ABC.
“These are powerful and accomplished women from different walks of life who have had amazing personal and professional experiences. Each brings incredible perspective and information to the table,” the show’s executive producer, Bill Wolff, says, according to Us Weekly. “This mix of smart, vibrant, and energetic women is unlike anything else on daytime television.”
Sherri and Jenny first broke the news in June, when they both decided not to return for another season when their contracts were up. Reportedly, Sherri and ABC were unable to agree on a new contract. Originally, Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Nene Leakes was rumored to be one of the replacement panelists.
ABC promises that the new season of The View will be “unlike any in recent history.” We can’t wait to find out what that means for the show!
The View premieres live on Monday, September 15 on ABC.
