NBA player Lamar Odom is sick of underperforming on the court. Early this morning, the power forward released a statement announcing his decision to leave the Dallas Mavericks.
According to TMZ, the NBA-turned-reality star said in his statement that he will “step away from the team" immediately. Lamar was traded to the Mavericks in December, after a 7-year stint on his hometown team, the L.A. Lakers.
Although Lamar was clearly shaken by his sudden trade from Tinseltown to the Lone Star State, the 32-year-old doesn’t blame his new team for his shortcomings on the court.
"I'm sorry that things didn't work out better for both of us, but I wish the Mavs' organization, my teammates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defense of their championship,” he continued in his statement.
As shocking as it may sound, this isn’t the first time Lamar’s contemplated kicking the game altogether: Wife Khloe reportedly talked him out of quitting basketball last July.
But at least this time, Lamar hasn’t actually quit the game. ESPN reports Lamar has not been cut from the team and will be listed as “inactive” for the remainder of the season. That means he will still be eligible for another trade at the end of the current season.
Poor Khlomar! After seeing how hard one trade was for this once-dynamic duo, we can’t imagine how hard another trade would be for them!
