Kim Kardashian’s soon-to-be ex-husband Kris Humphries may be tearing up the basketball court as a Brooklyn Net, but could he have been racing in the Olympic pool instead?

According to E! Online, the basketballer was once a record-setting swimmer. At one time, Kris may have even swam faster than Olympian Michael Phelps!

So why are we even talking about this? The question arose as a response to this tweet, courtesy of the Nets Daily: "At age 10, Michael Phelps was ranked No. 2 among swimmers of his age class. The No. 1 swimmer was Kris Humphries."

E! Online dug through the stats and determined that in some events, yes, it appears that Kris did top Michael. Although it’s not clear that the two pre-teen athletes ever shared a pool.

While Kris now spends his days playing basketball, in 1995 he set the record for the boys 10 and under 50-meter freestyle — a record that he still holds to this day. Michael, on the other hand, holds the title for boys 10 and under in a different event, the 100-meter butterfly, which he set in 1996. Also in the 1995-1996 season, Kris ranked higher than Michael in the 100-meter freestyle.

Michael, of course, went on to shatter numerous records and become the most decorated Olympian of all time. But we have to give props to Kris: He was one speedy swimmer!
