TLC pageant princess Honey Boo Boo and the Kardashian sisters both star in reality TV show, but that’s just about the only thing they have in common.
And Honey Boo Boo’s mama would like to keep it that way, thankyouverymuch. Mama June Shannon tells Huffington Post that she never wants her daughters to become anything like Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian.
“My girls are not high-maintenance like them,” Mama June says of her Go Go Juice-drinking Southern brood. “They prefer to play in the mud than shop for new clothes. “
But more than that, Mama June seems to disagree with the entire concept of turning your family into a brand. “My girls are not labels. My kids love knowing who they are and know who they are, so, no,” she says.
The mother of TV’s most precocious pageant darling continues by saying that she and her family are just “everyday people,” and don’t consider themselves celebrites at all.
Whether she redneck-ognizes it or not, Mama June and the Kardashian sisters have some things in common. First and foremost: they are all subject to an intense amount of outside interest and scrutiny.
If she’s looked on the Internet at all the past six months, Mama June should know that she is a celebrity — like it or not. If your shocking weight loss makes the headlines, and your children have inspired countless Internet memes, then sorry: you ARE a celebrity.
We’re also not quite sure we agree with the whole “everyday people” bit. How many everyday people do you know who have a pet pig (or a ratings-busting reality show)? You might not be driving around in a Lamborghini or dropping $73,000 on a bracelet, Mama June, but you and your family are still famous.
So instead of calling them out publically, can’t you all just get along? The life of a reality star is hard. Why not band together in support, instead of tearing each other down?
