Kim Kardashian fans got a nasty surprise recently, when a Twitter account purportedly run by the reality star posted a horribly offensive racist comment!
“Nigeria is such a disgusting country,” the message read. “I couldn’t wait to leave. lol Scott said their women look like apes and I agree.”
Of course, the nastiest surprise of all was for Kim, who certainly didn’t write such a thing! The account, which lacked Twitter’s blue checkmark of “verification” was not run by Kim, and her rep was quick to shoot down any connection between the celeb and such an upsetting sentiment.
“This wasn’t tweeted from her account,” Kim’s rep confirmed. “She never tweeted this.”
Kim later responded to the drama with a tweet of her own, from her real account: “I see there's a photo shopped tweet floating around, supposedly something I said about Nigeria,” she wrote. “That was NOT me, or my feelings.”
A second tweet on the matter read: “That fake tweet is very disturbing & I would NEVER EVER tweet something like that.”
That sounds more like the Kim we know. Kim, of course, travelled to Nigeria in February to co-host a concert event with Nigerian R&B artist Darey. At the time, she tweeted, “On my way to Nigeria! Can't wait!”
No word on who would write such a terrible thing, or why they would attribute it to Kim, but here’s hoping that her fans will investigate their sources if and when something as crazy as that next crosses their path.
