Baby names come and go in popularity, and it’s a surprise to no one that it often has a lot to do with what celeb moms are naming their kids.
Earlier this week, the U.S. Social Security Administration released a list of 2011’s most popular baby names. While Joseph and Sophia topped the list, a familiar name took the runner-up spot on the boys’ list.
According to the SSA press release, the name Mason has been popular since the 1990s, but has never made it into the top 25 until 2010. Now at the number two spot for 2011, the success could be credited to a certain Kardashian sister.
“Some may attribute this year’s rise to number two to reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian’s son,” said the press release.
It’s also noted that Mason is consistently among the top five baby boys’ names in Wisconsin, largely because of Green Bay Packer kicker Mason Crosby.
We can’t wait to see what Kourtney names baby No. 2 — and no doubt watch that name climb the list!
