Kim Kardashian just made her second trip to Africa in as many months, this time to promote a concert event in Lagos with R&B singer Darey. So, how’d it go? Her reception, as measured by The Atlantic Wire, was mixed (to put it mildly).

In the case of This Day's Eddy Odivwri, he interpreted Kim’s attendance at the event as proof that Nigeria is a destination for celebrities, while simultaneously reminding readers that Kim isn’t a good role model “to a generation in need of a moral dress up." As proof, he pointed “to the name of her blog, Wetpoint, which they say, is suggestive of a lewd nuance.”

Hey now! If you’re going to call us lewd and call us Kim Kardashian’s blog, at least get our name right!

The overwhelming response, however, seemed to be about money. Kim was reportedly paid $500,000 to appear at the event, which she attended for all of 45 minutes. Many Nigerian bloggers lamented the fact that the event producers didn’t hire an equally qualified Nigerian woman. Others took a (somewhat) more positive stance: Kim scammed the scammers.

How do they figure that? Well, while Nigeria is famous for all those princes asking for money via email, Kim got wealthy Nigerians to shell out hundreds of dollars for tickets to an event she barely attended. Since we have no idea how they’re even keeping score on that one, we’ll just leave it at that.
