When it comes to charm, 18 year-old Skye Stevens is wise beyond his years. The teenage pop sensation who got his big break when his song, “Takes All Night,” reached a million views and hit #3 on the Billboard dance charts just weeks after dropping this past spring  recently swung by Wetpaint Entertainment’s NYC offices, where he quickly won us over with his passion for music…and his crush-worthy swagger.

He chatted with us about his second single, “Rewind” (which was just released on Oct. 15), his current tour, and how the Kardashians have helped pave the way for other aspiring Armenian artists like him.

Wetpaint Entertainment: What’s been your favorite part of touring?
Skye: My favorite part has been seeing all the different types of crowds and knowing, for that one night, you’re helping lift their spirits. And when I see people singing along, that’s just so amazing for me, having that kind of support.

Tell us about the new single. What will we hear on it that’s different from “Takes All Night?
“Takes All Night,” it’s so full of spirit and life. It’s an electronic, David Guetta/ Usher/Chris Brown kind of sound and it introduced me as a dancer and it gave people a lot of information at once. The new single, “Rewind,” isn’t a ballad, but it has a more moderate tempo. It has more sentiment. It’s not a party anthem. If I had to compare it to something I would say it’s got a “No Air” by Jordin Sparks vibe.

True or false: we read you wanted Kendall Jenner for the video?
Absolutely true. And actually, she was down to do it. She wanted to be the girl in the video, but she had filming commitments for one of Kardashians’ shows and she was in another part of the country. Maybe I can get her for the next one!

You’re Armenian. Do you feel like the Kardashians have opened the door and for aspiring Armenian artists like yourself?
Well, what I’m doing isn’t really based around Armenian culture. I’m a kid from Boston, you know, who’s just moved to LA to pursue his dream. That said, the Kardashians have all the success they do because of their work ethic. None of this just happened to them by accident. So I have a lot of respect for what they’re doing. And I like to think I have that same kind of work ethic. I’m up early and I’m at it all day.

Where do you see yourself in a year?
People asked me this a year ago when my first song came out and I was like, man, I just hope the song goes somewhere. And a year later, we’re on the Billboard dance chart. I would say a year from now I would hope to just continue doing what I’m doing.
