Pregnant Kim Kardashian won’t let a little thing like a fetus get in the way of her incredible fashion sense. On top of her ubiquitous high heels, we’ve seen her out and about rocking tight leather pants at least twice. And photographic evidence confirms she’s been wearing Spanx under her tummy-hugging dresses on a fairly regular basis. We know shapewear is great for preventing bulges and visible pantylines, but could those constricting garments be harmful to Kim’s growing baby?

Some folks on the internets have expressed worry that such tight clothing might restrict blood flow to her uterus. But before you get outraged, it’s important to remember that “folks on the internet” aren’t a great substitute for actual doctors.

Thankfully, OB-GYN Carmit Archibald at Baby Center has some real talk on Spanx and baby bumps. According to the good doctor, the only thing at risk is Kim’s personal comfort. “There's no reason why wearing a piece of Lycra ‘shapewear’ over your butt, belly, or thighs would harm your baby – regardless of how far along you are. That said, it might not be the most comfortable choice for your growing body. But if it feels okay to you, go for it.”

Pitchforks down, baby lovers! Kim’s baby is just fine.
