Ray J's latest single, "I Hit It First," is landing him in hot water for his arguably crass and not-so-subtle references to ex Kim Kardashian. ("I had her head going north and her ass going south / But now baby chose to go West," he raps.) But — ready for this? — the man himself wants us to believe that it's all about love.
Talking about the track to Hot 97 this morning (April 8), Ray J said, "It’s just a record — it’s putting a hundred on fifty.
"Yo, it’s a song. It’s not about that. It’s about the concept, you know what I’m saying? It’s a great beat. They just gotta keep it on the surface. I’m not trying to create a war. It’s all love."
And does the song mean that he's still hung up on Kim?
“I think people are digging into it way too deep," Ray J posited. "Like, it’s a song. We're just having fun. We're not on that situation … It’s not a diss song. We're just having fun. Bring it back to the song."
You can judge for yourself by listening to the full track below.
We already know what Kanye thinks about the new song, but what do you think, Kardashifans? Was Ray J's latest single all in good fun? Or is this a misogynistic attempt at alpha-male status? Sound off in the poll below.
Meanwhile, we'll be busy putting a hundred on fifty... as soon as we figure out what that means.
