By now everybody’s seen the Saturday Night Live Kardashian parody, Kim’s Fairytale Divorce – and, while it was a little over-the-top (albeit hilarious), it turns out a TV special based on Kim Kardashian’s divorce from Kris Humphries might not be too far-fetched.
According to Hollywood Life, Kim and Kris’ high-profile divorce proceedings will most likely be filmed and open to the public, due to California’s “open policy on popular court cases” – the same policy that allowed the public into O.J. Simpson’s murder trial, in which Kim’s father, the late Robert Kardashian Sr., played a starring role on O.J.’s defense team.
Right now, there are “no divorce settlement talks going on,” a source close to the Humphries family tells Hollywood Life. Kim filed for divorce on Oct. 31, 2011, but Kris Humphries filed for annulment on Dec. 1, citing “fraud.” That means the marriage can’t end until a judge rules whether or not there is “clear and convincing evidence” of fraud within the couple’s 72-day marriage.
The source close to K. Hump says Kris and his team wholeheartedly believe “Kim had no intention to stay married to him and she just got married to make money,” and that they can prove it in court.
That being said, the former prince and princess of reality TV will likely contend in the courtroom by summers end. And the only way Kim and Kris’ divorce won’t go public is if the millionairess settles financially with her soon-to-be-ex out of court – or agrees to the annulment based on “fraud.”
Obvi, admitting her marriage was a sham runs the risk of ruining Kimmie K’s already tainted rep, not to mention pissing off the many sponsors of the actual wedding. But even without a confession from Kim, the source says the Humphries camp thinks they have sufficient evidence to prove the union was fraudulent. The source reiterates that Kris’ team strongly believes Kourtney and Kim Take New York Season 2 was “developed with the theme of divorce” without Kris’ knowledge, says the source.
We hope these two can work it out, though we won’t complain if we do get to watch it go down! It’s a Kardashian reality, we’re just watching it.
