As the matriarch of the Kardashian clan, Kris Jenner is probably one of the most famous moms on the planet. But what was she up to before hitting the international spotlight in Keeping Up With the Kardashians, alongside celeb daughters Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe? Plenty, as it turns out.

Kris worked from a young age, starting with a job in a donut shop as a teenager and later as a flight attendant for American Airlines. She was just 18 when she met lawyer Robert Kardashian, and they got married in 1978 when she was 22 and he was 33.

The two didn’t waste any time popping out their famous kids: Kourtney was born in 1979, Kim in 1980, Khloe in 1984 and Rob in 1987. But sadly, the couple split in 1990, and Kris admitted in her book that it was because she had an affair with a producer. “We had wild sex everywhere, all the time." Yowza.

After her divorce, Kris was set up on a blind date with former Olympian Bruce Jenner, and they got married in 1991. The mid-90s got super busy for Kris: She had a short stint as a correspondent for the ABC daytime talk show Mike & Maty, started managing Bruce’s career, and launched a line of fitness equipment and an infomercial called Super Fit With Bruce Jenner. Oh, and she found time to have daughters Kendall and Kylie too. No big deal.

We imagine this alarmingly high-powered mom was kept pretty busy raising her six children, but she still found time to open a children’s store called Smooch in 2003. In 2007, Keeping Up With the Kardashians premiered, and the rest is very, very well-documented history.
