We’re guessing that most Olympic gold medalists don’t count reality stars among their idols, but Ryan Lochte is definitely not most Olympians. And, surprise surprise, the champion swimmer wants to be the next Kim Kardashian! Jeah!
"Kim started from pretty much nothing, and now everyone everywhere knows who she is," Ryan recently told The Hollywood Reporter. "That's what I want to do."
In some ways, Ryan’s off to a pretty good start.
Kim’s star really started rising when Keeping Up With The Kardashians premiered on E! in 2007, and now Ryan has his own eight-episode reality series, What Would Ryan Lochte Do?, premiering on that same cable channel on April 21.
"I've seen what E! has done in the past with reality shows like hers," Ryan gushed. "Today, she's huge."
As the proud owner of 11 medals and one of the biggest personalities to ever hit a podium, Ryan was pretty huge himself in the wake of the 2012 London Olympics. He was reportedly being considered for both Dancing With The Stars and The Bachelor before scoring a show of his very own. For all his posturing and party boy ways, Ryan seems to have a laser focus when it comes to reaching reality stardom.
“When I walk down the street, people recognize me, and that never happened before," said Ryan. "Now's my chance."
OK, Ryan, you want to be Kim Kardashian? Here are a few tips. You’re on the right track with your love of Vegas and posting selfies on social media, but you’re gonna have to ditch the grill and start investing in some sheer shirts. Good luck!
