We kind of thought drop-crotch pants went the way of M.C. Hammer, but fashionistas like Kendall Jenner and Jennifer Lopez have a different take on the trend.
On Sunday, July 29, 16-year-old Kendall was spotted out in NYC with her momager, Kris Jenner. Making her way to a modeling gig, Kendall opted for a knotted t-shirt, unstyled locks, and worn-in Converse sneakers.
Yet it was Kendall’s pair of drop-crotch pants that was the keystone of her look. Her sweatpant-inspired bottoms from Young by Yoyo Yeung ($595) featured all-over shiny beadwork for an unexpected glamorous touch. Though the proportions of her look were mismatched and somewhat strange, the mix of casual and elegant pieces provided that model-off-duty vibe.
Two months earlier, former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez donned a similar pair of pants on the show’s Season 11 finale. Taking the stage to debut her latest single, J.Lo went for sequined harem trousers and a matching sparkly tank. With a New York Yankees cap and studded high-top sneakers, the sporty-meets-flashy look was straight-up Jenny From the Block.

Though we can’t say we’re the biggest fans of this early-‘90s look, these retro bottoms are undoubtedly having a moment. Kendall vs. J.Lo — who do you think did the trend proud?
