Will a Break From Khloe & Lamar Really Improve Lamar Odom’s Career? Exclusive
It’s no secret that Lamar Odom’s basketball career hasn’t been what it used to be. After being traded from the L.A. Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks in December, he put in a less-than-stellar performance before parting ways with his new team in April.
Now comes the news that Lamar and wife Khloe Kardashian’s E! reality show, Khloe & Lamar, has been put on hold after Season 2 ends in May. But is he giving up the show for good? Khloe’s rep tells PEOPLE that the show isn’t cancelled, and the return of the series “will depend on their schedules, as Lamar’s basketball schedule is a priority.”
So will a renewed focus on his basketball career, and a shift away from the reality TV world, work for Lamar Odom?
Based on Kris Humphries, Lamar’s former brother-in-law and fellow NBA player, the answer is YES.
On Kourtney & Kim Take New York, viewers saw Kris struggle to keep up with his rigorous training schedule while still filming his then-wife Kim Kardashian’s reality show. But since turning the cameras off following his split from Kim in early November, Kris’ career is back on track… and his stats are better than ever. In fact, many sports fans are saying 2012 was his best season yet.
“Kris agreed to film the show because he loved Kim,” an insider close to Humphries tells Wetpaint Entertainment. “He did it for her, but he paid the price. As everyone saw, it was tough for him to focus on his game because filming the show was so time-consuming and the cameras were a huge distraction.”
“Again, as the whole world saw, Kim was not supportive of him when it became an issue. The good news for Lamar is that it seems like Khloe is onboard with doing whatever it takes to help her husband. That’s what marriage is all about.”
“The best thing Lamar can do for his career right now is to say no to the Kardashian cameras. Let’s hope it leads to a comeback. Lamar deserves it.”
