ANTM Contestant’s Husband Commits Suicide

Update (June 24, 2014, 3:11 p.m. PST):

Katie's rep tells TMZ the couple split eight months ago and Andrew filed for divorce back in April. They'd even discussed the photos with Leo, Katie's rep adds, and they were supposedly a non-issue.

His friends have a different story for the outlet — saying Katie was, as TMZ puts it, "humiliating him by globetrotting and hobnobbing with celebs" — but whatever the case, the whole situation strikes us as just as sad.

Original story (June 24, 2014, 2:38 p.m. PST):

America's Next Top Model Season 1 contestant Katie Cleary was all smiles as she partied with Hollywood hunks last month, but her life just took a tragic turn.

TMZ reports that Katie's husband, Andrew Stern, killed himself with a gunshot to the head on June 22 at a San Fernando Valley shooting range.

Andrew, 40, was an Internet entrepreneur who also appeared in an episode of Millionaire Matchmaker.

His suicide comes weeks after Katie — who was also a suitcase model on Deal or No Deal — partied with Leonardo DiCaprio and Adrian Grenier in Cannes. (She and Andrew were reportedly getting divorced at the time.)

TMZ has photos of her dancing with Leo and walking on a street with Adrian — though a source tells the site that she and Leo never hooked up.

Please note that we would never imply that Katie's partying was the cause of this tragedy — we're just presenting the facts and the chronology.

Reportedly, Andrew was suffering from significant stress over the breakup, had a history of depression, and was beset by financial troubles.

It's a sad situation for all involved — and our thoughts go out to Katie and the rest of Andrew's family.
