Lea Michele: Kate Hudson “Truly” Helped Me After Cory Monteith’s Death

Glee star Lea Michele (Rachel) has been remarkably strong in dealing with the shocking death of boyfriend Cory Monteith. Now, Lea is confirming that a surprising person helped her during the difficult time and even let Lea stay with her: former Glee guest star Kate Hudson (Cassandra).

Lea tells Elle magazine that she spoke to Kate shortly after Cory's passing, and Kate didn't hesitate to invite Lea to stay with her.

"I called her and said, 'I don’t know where I’m going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters],'" Lea says. "She was like, 'Oh, you’re going to stay at my house.' Like it was nothing."

Somehow, Lea managed to hightail it over to Kate's pad without any paparazzi getting wise to the housing situation. "No one knew I was there, which was so great," Lea continues.

Kate really went the extra mile to make sure Lea felt at home during her stay. "She let my family stay there, and any of my friends," Lea says. "She made sure that in the refrigerator were my favorite juices."

"I’ll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me,” she adds.

For her part, Kate sounds in awe of how Lea handled everything. "Honestly, she's inspiring," Kate says. "She's a very strong, special, loving woman. She really has dealt with this emotional side of it in a way that has been very healthy."

Kate also addresses the rumors that there was tension between Lea and Kate on the Glee set, or that Lea is a diva. "The media just wants to pit girls against each other," Kate explains. "Every woman, like Lea Michele, who has become celebrated throughout the history of show business be it Bette Davis or Barbra Streisand if they're anything but demure, they get s—t for it all the time."

"If you're a man and you claim yourself to be ambitious, you're celebrated," Kate continues. "A woman who says the same is looked upon as cold or a shrew. That's the culture."

We had heard rumors that Kate invited Lea to stay at her home, but this is the first time it's been confirmed. And we really had no idea how close Lea and Kate are, so this story makes us smile. In fact, after hearing this touching news, does anyone else need to dry their eyes, or is it just us?
