Kate Middleton’s Royal Baby Is the Prince of Cambridge
UPDATE: The palace is pleased to announced that Kate Middleton has given birth to a BOY! Full details here.
The media has assumed for months that the royal baby will hold the title of prince or princess when he or she finally arrives, but Cambridge News revealed that Buckingham Palace made the official announcement in early July. Kate Middleton’s little babe, who she is in labor with at this very moment, will carry the official title of His or Her Royal Highness the Prince or Princess of Cambridge.
Along with the impressive title, Kate and William’s firstborn will also hold a special place in history as the first Prince or Princess of Cambridge... ever! “When we did a lot of research after it was first announced that the couple were to get the title, nothing like that was found,” says Former Cambridge mayor Sheila Stuart. “There were some dukes of Cambridge but not a prince or princess.”
The baby’s royal parents have already brought a major influx of tourism and prosperity to the historic university town, but this announcement, says Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce John Bridge, adds a whole new dimension to the town’s already rich history.
“Cambridge is already an international icon as far as the UK is concerned but this news enhances its status in the world,” he says.
The town of Cambridge definitely has one more reason for sweaty palms, but ours are sweating just waiting for this royal baby to arrive, already! We need to see that first image of Kate and William holding their new baby on the hospital steps!
