Kate Middleton and Prince William Hire His Old Nanny For Their Royal Baby

Apparently even Prince William knows you never give away the number of a great nanny or babysitter. He and Kate Middleton have called upon a very familiar face to help care for their new royal baby, Prince George. People reports that Jessie Webb, William’s former nanny, has been assisting the new parents in their home in North Wales and is reportedly going to join them in Scotland on their visit with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

Webb, 71, who was born in East London and has never had children of her own, cared for William for more than 20 years and, more recently, for his cousin Viscount Linley. The veteran nanny was brought on by Princess Diana and Prince Charles to look after Prince Harry and William when they were little and was reportedly a source of comfort to the boys when Diana and Charles’ marriage got a bit rocky. She also attended William’s 21st birthday and was invited to the royal wedding.

Author of the upcoming book A Century of Royal Children Ingrid Seward says Kate and William are going to benefit from having someone who is familiar with the royal family. "She'll be like a safe pair of hands. She knows the ropes and knows what happens," she told People. "That's preferred rather than someone new to it all, someone who'd be terrified of it all."

For a couple who has had some issues with privacy, it’s surely going to help to have someone in their inner circle. And we're sure both the new mom and dad are happy to invite someone else over to help with George because, as Seward noted, "George sounds like he's got some lungs on him. William's been talking about having sleepless nights, although he did say he's got better."
