Kate Middleton and Prince William “Nervous” About Prince George’s First Trip
What a royal year Prince George has had! Even before he turned a year old, this little tyke made his first public appearance when he joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their Royal Tour in April.
The entire engagement consisted of visits to 13 cities in New Zealand and Australia over the course of three weeks, and given the snapshots, George seemed to have handled it the only way he knows how: by being adorable.
As for his mum and dad, they were actually a little worried about how their little prince would handle the trip. “William privately admitted to being nervous about the long-haul flight, tropical climate, and intense media interest, but there was no suggestion of leaving George behind,” palace insiders tell Vanity Fair contributor Kate Nicholl.
But it turns out, everything went smoothly for George. A senior aide who accompanied the royal family on the trip says “George didn’t really suffer from jet lag — he settled down very quickly.”
In fact things went so well, the princeling got in some practice walking by learning how to “cruise” by “shuffling along while holding onto furniture.” How cute!
“Kate expressed relief that George behaved well during his first few public appearances,” adds the Vanity Fair contributor. But it turns out that England’s future king wasn’t always quick to settle down. Insiders reveal “for the first few months the prince cried loudly and frequently, and he was not sleeping through the night.”
Adding “Nanny Jessie Webb tried hard to get him into a routine, but the baby prince, who was still breastfeeding, was permanently hungry … it was only in the new year, when Kate introduced solids, that George finally slept through the night.”
Now that Prince George is past his newborn stage and approaching his first birthday (July 22, as if you didn’t already have it circled on your calendar), we can’t help but wonder when this little guy will become a big brother. Lucky for the world, it sounds like we might not have to wait much longer. Vanity Fair reports “there are rumors among the couple’s friends that they plan to try this summer.” And we can’t even.
