American Idol Alum Katharine McPhee Lands Lead Role in New CBS Show
Now in its 13th season, American Idol is the show that’s launched a thousand careers. OK, so not a thousand but still a lot. There’s Carrie Underwood and her Sound of Music yodeling, Kelly Clarkson with her music industry mingling, and, of course, Jennifer Hudson and her Oscar Award winning.
Also on that “best in class” list for Idol is Katharine McPhee. You know, that lady who came in second during Season 5, got hitched, went on to have success on the small screen with NBC’s Smash only to have the whole thing end in scandal when she was seen smacking lips with her married director?
Scandalous relationships aside, Katherine’s heading back to TV with a new show on CBS, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Called Scorpion, the upcoming series has already gotten a lot of buzz for its intriguing plot about an eccentric genius and his band of fellow brainiacs who are “the last line of defense against the complex threats of modern age.”
Katharine, we hear, will be the female lead in the new show. She’ll play Paige, a waitress who takes on the role of social “translator” for the awkward masterminds. But will she be singing? Let’s hope!
