From doctor to (potential) cannibal? Not so fast!
Last week there was a rumor going around former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl was in talks to join The Walking Dead Season 5 as a resident of Terminus, but we’re here to tell you that there’s no truth to this Tinseltown chatter.
From what we can tell the original rumor may have been a late-blooming April Fool’s joke, but now TWD casting director Sharon Bialy is setting the record straight once and for all. On April 18 Sharon tweeted, “The rumors about Katherine Heigl joining @WalkingDead_AMC are complete bulls—. She has her own wonderful show nbc. Wishing her the best.”
We called BS from the get-go, and Sharon’s tweet pretty much confirms what we already knew. Sure, Katherine might’ve made an interesting addition to the cast, but as Sharon pointed out Katherine has got a new show of her own in the works.
So where can you see Dr. Izzie Stevens next? Katie’s new show is a drama called State of Affairs, and the pilot is expected to air on NBC in the coming months. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katie’s new drama is described as Scandal meets The West Wing. “[It] revolves around a maverick CIA officer [Katherine] who was plucked from the field to become the president's daily briefer, assuming responsibility for targeting America's most critical threats while navigating the unique lifestyle that comes with such a high-powered job.”
It’s no Walking Dead, but State of Affairs does sound intriguing.
Are you bummed that Katherine won’t be on TWD, or do you think she’s better suited for her new show instead? Tell us what you think below!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
