Katherine Heigl’s TV Comeback: 3 Reasons We’re Rooting For Her

It’s been over three years since Izzie Stevens last donned her blue scrubs on Grey’s Anatomy, but Katherine Heigl is ready to hit the small screen again, this time in a new pilot from NBC. In the CIA drama, Katherine will play a “key CIA analyst whose job it is to debrief and strategize with the president on the most pressing global and national matters."

Not everybody is ready to welcome Katherine back to TV land with open arms, though — apparently, she even lost a role recently because of her mean girl reputation. Some sources have even claimed she’s difficult to work with and crazy demanding, but we’re not buying it. We love her and can’t wait to see her latest project!

Don’t worry, Katherine — we’re behind you 100 percent. Here’s why:

Katherine is awesome at drama.

Don’t get us wrong, we love Katherine’s romantic comedies. Who hasn’t watched 27 Dresses a hundred times? But where Katherine really shines is drama, and she proved it for six seasons on Grey’s as Izzie navigated losing Denny, her battle with cancer, and her rocky relationship with Alex. If anyone can make us cry, it’s Katherine Heigl (Denny’s death scene, anyone?), and we love to see what she could bring to the table as a CIA agent!

We miss seeing her on our TVs each week.

Although Grey’s has always been awesome, it’s never been quite the same since the lovable Izzie made her final exit. Some of our favorite scenes were the ones where Izzie was baking way too many cookies, bonding with her BFF George (moment of silence, please) and bantering with Alex. We’d love to have some of that Katherine Heigl pep back in the TV atmosphere, pronto!

Everyone deserves a second chance.

OK, so this isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors of Katherine’s diva-like behavior. It wasn’t all roses and sunshine when she left Grey’s Anatomy, and even though she’s expressed a desire to bring Izzie back, creator Shonda Rhimes doesn’t exactly share the sentiment. But everybody has bad days, and we think Katherine deserves the chance to redeem herself on a brand new show and return her career to its former glory.

Are you looking forward to seeing Katherine’s big TV comeback? Sound off below!
