It looks like Katy Perry’s teenage dream has turned into a lonely nightmare for the pop princess.
Rumors have been swirling about the reasons behind the 29-year-old stunner’s recent split with boyfriend John Mayer, but it seems as though their breakup may not be the drama fest some sources have made it out to be.
A new report from People reveals that the pair’s crazy schedules and differing interests may have finally caught up to them and caused an irreparable rift between the two.
"They're two very strong-willed people," a source close to the couple tells the magazine. "Despite caring about each other very much and wanting to make it work, they are, at their core, quite different."
Katy has earned herself a reputation as quite the wild child since she started her transformation into the pop phenom she is today, shooting whipped cream from her boobs, making out with Miley, and, of course, her infamous (and short-lived) marriage to noted eccentric Russell Brand. But it seems as though 36-year-old John may have felt he had already overstayed his welcome in the Hollywood party scene.
“At times they seemed really happy together and in love, and other times he seemed like he just wanted to get away from all the parties and go home. I can't say I always blamed him.”
Are you surprised by the cause of Katy and John’s split? Did you see them making it for the long haul?
